About Mobiledna

Two out of three Flemish people (64.6%) say that they use their smartphone at least one hour a day. Moreover, 14% of them estimates that they use their device at least five hours a day. At least, that's what they assume, because these numbers are based on their own assessment, not on the actual, measured use. That is exactly where mobileDNA wants to help you: a clear insight into your own smartphone use. Which applications do you use? And for how long? MobileDNA offers you a 'diagnosis' of your smartphone use. Objective statistics and detailed reports, clearly displayed. That is your mobile DNA. _MOBILE DNA: A MIRROR OF YOUR SMARTPHONE USE_ The application is meant as a mirror of your smartphone use. It is up to you to determine whether you want to adjust your use. This mirror consists of your usage statistics and a mobile diagnosis. MobileDNA gives you more insight into your use statistics, such as: - The number of applications you use - How much time you spend on those apps, on average per day - The moment(s) you use your smartphone most (time of day or weekday/weekend) - The average number of notifications you receive per day - The number of times you check your smartphone, along with the number of times you did not open an app - Top 5 apps with the proportion (%) of your total smartphone time and number of smartphone checks MobileDNA also provides you with a mobile diagnosis: - Are you a diffuse or concentrated user? - Are you a compulsive or conditioned user of your smartphone or of a particular app? - Do you show (triggered) locked-in behavior? - Are you a creature of habit? - Do you show a splintered or blocked app use? - Do you have a mobile biorhythm? _ SCIENTIFIC PURPOSE_ MobileDNA is an application developed by Ghent University (research group for Media, Innovation and Communication Technologies, imec-mict-UGent) and was developed within the Kop Op-campaign that investigates the relation between people and their smartphone. You can read the general terms and conditions https://www.ugent.be/mict/en/research/mobiledna/mobiledna-privacy-statement). _COLLECTED DATA_ MobileDNA DOES register: - the names of the applications that I open on my smartphone - when and how long I use applications - where I use an application (in case 'my location' is activated) - receiving notifications, where the content of the message is NOT registered, but only the name of the application that sends the notification - my type of smartphone - my battery percentage MobileDNA DOES NOT register: - the internet addresses, browser activity or URLs I visit - what I do within an application - the content of messages, e-mails, calendars or other content - images, photos, videos, sound recordings or any other content You can switch mobileDNA on and off without restriction after installation. Tracking your usage does not start until you switch on "Track smartphone usage".
